god the week was exhausting. i guess i'm older than i pretend to be. haha jens lekman was totally awesome. lowkey show but very cute as he always is. the next night was passion pit at the troub. that was also awesome. but by then i was getting really tired because we had these mixed cds that we were doing at work and all of us decided to wait til the last minute and do overly complicated mixes. and moreover we had to make 9 copies of them. so basically a lot of us didn't get much sleep. once i got home from passion pit i stayed up finished my designs for the mix and burning my cds and such and got to bed around 3:30am i think. i was a total zombie on friday and i still had to cut and paste that shit. but it turned out really awesomely.
that's the cd package entirely. so basically it's a digipak with a fold out showing the venn diagram overlap.

so basically the mix is songs overlapping via artist collaboration, spin-off, or remix. it took forever to come up with a tracklisting i was happy with and then once i did that it took forever to make the packaging... 9x over! but it's all done and i think it looks pretty good. i had another way more complex idea but that was just NOT happening given the time remaining. our photog at work is going to shoot all the cds so once that's done i'll post those since they will look much nicer. but you get the idea of the amount of work i went through and why i'm now totally tired.
friday night i almost fell asleep on the train and missed my stop going home. i was supposed to go to sumi's housewarming but took a nap and when i woke up to eat i realized i was still really fucking tired. so i just laid right back down.
yesterday i barely did anything other than see up in 3D which was totally awesome. super cute and the 3D was neat. today i was supposed to participate in the arm wrestling but i'm too tired. and now that my printer isn't working for home networking like it's supposed to and my credit card number was stolen, i have ZERO desire to do anything other than veg. so i will goddamnit and if people have a problem with that, too fucking bad. i did however sell my old scanner which is good cuz i wanted to get that out of my hair. woo!
apparently work is going to get insanely busy which i am NOT looking fwd to. there are these banners that need to get done and i'm dreading it. i hate banner ads HATE.
well, it's been a gloriously long weekend and i seriously don't want it to end! but alas, it's 5:41pm and the work week is rapidly approaching... sigh...
i realize that because of facebook and twitter i drastically reduce the number of posts i make. i guess cuz it feels like i've gotten all my shit out there already in this little spurts of information. i hate that this is happening. i need to get back into the swing of blogging again!! it seems the last time i posted was 2 wks ago! since then i've:
* seen star trek in IMAX (fucking ruled)
* watched the season finale of lost with a bunch of lost nerds (ugh 2010 can't come fast enough!)
* saw shaun briefly at his old housemates party (that got shut down around 5pm!)
* had our own housewarming party (which was totally lowkey and overly indulgent)
put all the gears in motion to make plastique* a formal business (well a DBA - doing business as - and having legalzoom.com do all the details since i can't be bothered to run around town with documents)
* went shopping (and then re-shopping) with byron for formal shorts for laurel's friend jessica's upcoming wedding which he and i are both attending
* saw chy's band play at space 1520 after work
* had drinks with all the old AA crew for sumi and heather's annual dual birthday party
* celebrated joe and jones' birthday at their swank loft apt which led to much reminiscing of old college partying/drunken times
* went to doug's memorial day bbq which was totally chill and a good way to "end" the long weekend (despite still having today to really chill which is why 3 day weekends RULE)
on the horizon for this week is a whole slew of things. basically from wednesday to sunday i have shit to do. gah!

so i gotta savor these free moments. except i have a lot of shit to do. gotta photograph some plastique* stuff and show it to kellis to see if he wants to sell any through his website. also have to finish this girl's "logo" for her online mag she's starting. she's a friend of a friend so it's pretty chill. i also want to make some promo materials for plastique* and then jill wants a website. but she's way behind on getting me the details and now i'm super busy so i think that might have to push a bit. ahhh! and then i have to make this mixed cd for work but i had this whole idea that now i'm like ehhhh do i want to make this effort type thing?! ahh!
god fucking hell. i have been LAGGING with the blog. i've been so fucking busy it hurts. ahhhh. birthday. waiting for the birthday photos. then moving. cleaning old apt. reorganizing new apt. (still have books on the floor THANKYOUVERYMUCH i-fucking-kea!!! ugh!!) finally the apt shit is DONE. it took me away from the gym for a solid week and my body is showing the signs. ugh. getting back on that track. got some better snacks for work and i went to the gym last night and tonight. of course it doesn't help i got cupcakes with cynthia. but they are gone so back on track. i hope. ugh!
anyway, to recap. the party was a bloody success for sure. i was so trashed and happy that so many people showed up. i swear it was a night of me having my mouth open the entire time, byron passing around those clear glasses he brought for his alter ego "dimitri" and taking ridiculous photos. here are just SOME of the highlights. mostly of byron cuz what can i say, the man brought his A-game. by that i mean his ability to drink us all under the table and still manage to have a fucking great time.

other random tidbits i wanted to post...
layer tennis 2 wks ago btwn draplin & glass was FUCKING FANTASTIC. check it out for yourself. but goddamn that shit was good. if i had a nut i'd have been bustin' it cuz they did such a bangup job. usually layer tennis goes a bit awry even with the best of designers (i've totally seen it happen, like week 10 where muller was defeated...that man is gold with the stylus). but this particular match was just so on point. it's like they decided to work together rather than rip their work to shreds. last week's with scott hansen was good (love love LOVE his work) but not as good at the week prior. seriously, check that shit out. i mean the first layer alone is goddamn priceless. all the way to the last.
that same day i discovered this gem:

moving on... last week i saw star trek opening night. well technically, i saw it the night before. alex and i went to the midnight showing at the arclight. DAMN the movie was good. i really enjoyed it. so much so that when we got home we immediately bought IMAX tickets because it's only showing in IMAX for the first 2 wks of its release. so we're going to see it again in IMAX tomorrow. i can't wait!!!
this saturday was alex and my 3 year anniversary. seriously, 3 years?! insane!! we kept it super low key considering that my birthday just passed, we just moved, and we're both relatively broke. we just went to 8 oz burger on melrose and pigged out. my favorite dish of the night had to be the short rib grilled cheese. so damn good. yum! we came home and watched manchurian candidate. and that was the night. it totally makes us sound like old fucking farts. haha whatever.
work is going ok. we don't have a lot of work so we bide our time tweeting and redoing our company pieces such as the reel, blog, newsletter and website. and i swear i hear bill and andrew working on logo redesigns. we're also developing iPhone apps. i'm super stoked about one of them. i can't speak about it til it's done but i'm REALLY excited about it. i just worked on the logo for it. oh man. if it turns out like i want it to, it'll be fantastic. and i think there will be a market of people like me who will love it. we shall see!
my plastique* stuff is going well overall. i've decided to take the plunge a bit further and order more stuff. also need to figure out how to set up a "business" for myself. i read it's not hard. i just have to actually do it. i'm getting really busy lately so i don't have much time. but i'm stoked about some new designs i made and the response of some older ones. so that's good.
ok i think i'm FINALLY caught up. woo!
i just watched 30 rock and in the episode they were all supposedly equal. meaning liz had to change the water on the water cooler without any help from a man. i must yet again put forth my big gripe about the water cooler. time and time again i ask, "WHY HASN'T A BETTER SOLUTION BEEN MADE???" you'd think after all the shit that we've invented in this world we could at least invent a water cooler where you could have to take a 5 gallon awkwardly bulbous jug of water and swiftly turn it upside over a relatively small hole to let the water drain without getting water all over the floor. you'd think right? well where the fuck is this invention? i mean, why can't we have something where you still tilt the goddamn bulbous jug but with the cap on? and then once it's on the cooler you push a button and it punctures the cap? how about that? i mean really the damn thing should be entirely redesigned. but for the sake of making what we already have better, can't we at least do that? this way you'd still have to manage the huge jug but with the cap on so no spilling for sure. ugh! i tell you. it's one of my big pet peeves in life. the goddamn water cooler.
